Who are we ?

After more than 30 years of experience in the (inter) national theatre world, the two founders wanted to use their knowledge, experience and love for theatre in general and dance in particular to support the underprivileged children in Asia.

The foundation is administered by a board of directors with its chairman Mr. Rick van der Ploeg, former State Secretary of Culture and Science of the Netherlands.

Mission

In most developing countries poverty is the source of an unbalanced education system, in which art and culture are validated as special education and therefore has not fully integrated in the general curriculum.
In most developing countries, but also in countries where technological developments are proceeding in full speed, most of the attention is spend on issues of consumerism and developing commercial skills.

By means of dance, music and drama (performing arts) the foundation wants to interrelate intrinsically the creative capacity of a child and his/her circumstances.
With this approach CiM hopes to create awareness, by which children will be capable to develop themselves and to increase their opportunities to live a “normal” life.

To stimulate creativity is one of the means to challenge children and to enlarge both their physical and mental world.

Goal

The foundation CiM sets its goal to support underprivileged children in the world by providing art and culture education in order to develop themselves and to create better opportunities for their future.

CiM focuses above all on poor, abused, disabled and orphaned children in the world. The foundation does not discriminate against race, religion and cultural background, and does not have political preferences.

CiM would like to put its effort to implement art education into the basic education system, because we believe that art could bring about a balance between the rational and the creative capacity of a child.
